Faith-Rooted. Street-Shaped. Builder-Minded.
I AM GILBERT ACEVEDO III...
For as long as I can remember, I've been drawn to creating things.
Art.
Ideas.
Programs.
Teams.
Experiences.
Communities.
People.
Some people build buildings.
I've spent my life building people.
For more than two decades, I've worked with youth, leaders, churches, schools, nonprofits, creatives, and organizations helping people discover purpose, develop leadership, navigate challenges, and create meaningful impact.
Along the way, I've worn a lot of hats:
Artist.
Speaker.
Creative.
Mentor.
Chaplain.
Founder.
Strategist.
But at the core of it all, I've always seen myself as a builder.
Not because I have all the answers.
Because I believe people are worth investing in.
FROM CREATIVITY TO COMMUNITY
My background began in art, design, storytelling, and creative communication.
What started as a passion for drawing, design, music, apparel, and visual storytelling eventually grew into a lifelong pursuit of helping people communicate ideas that matter.
Over the years, that creative foundation expanded into leadership development, mentorship, public speaking, program design, youth work, and organizational strategy.
Today, my work continues to live at the intersection of creativity, culture, leadership, faith, and community.
Whether I'm speaking on a stage, creating artwork, designing apparel, developing resources, mentoring youth, or consulting with organizations, I'm driven by the same belief:
Creativity is one of the most powerful tools we have to inspire change.
FOUNDER OF
MODERN ABOLITION
One of the greatest privileges of my life has been founding Modern Abolition, a nonprofit organization committed to serving justice-involved and at-risk youth through mentorship, leadership development, creative expression, faith formation, and restorative support.
Through that work, I've had the opportunity to walk alongside young people facing some of life's hardest realities while helping build pathways toward healing, growth, purpose, and hope.
That experience has shaped the way I lead, create, communicate, and serve.
It has taught me that lasting impact rarely comes from hype.
It comes from showing up consistently, building relationships, and helping people believe that a better future is possible.
WHAT I BELIEVE
I believe leadership is service.
I believe creativity has purpose.
I believe culture can be shaped.
I believe people can change.
I believe stories matter.
I believe faith should move beyond words and into action.
And I believe the things we build today should leave people better than we found them.
FAMILY & LIFE OFF THE GRIND -
BEYOND THE WORK.
I'm a husband, father, artist, creator, lifelong learner, and follower of Jesus.
Family shapes how I lead, how I build, and how I show up in the world. It reminds me that success isn't measured by what we accumulate, but by the people we invest in, the relationships we cultivate, and the impact we leave behind.
I care deeply about integrity, consistency, and keeping my word. Whether I'm leading a team, mentoring a student, creating artwork, speaking from a stage, or building something new, I believe character matters just as much as creativity.
When I'm not speaking, designing, mentoring, or developing programs, you'll usually find me spending time with family, making art, making music, riding my motorcycle, drinking good coffee, creating resources, coaching, reading, exploring new ideas, or investing in the next generation of leaders.
Because at the end of the day, the goal isn't simply to create more things.
It's to build things that matter, create things that inspire, and leave people better than we found them.
Let's create something meaningful.
“Gil and The Lion” is my music project — where I write, produce, and perform original songs centered on faith, resilience, and rebuilding.
It’s creative expression.
Another way to tell the story.
